Tom Hughes paints from life. From his Bristol studio, Tom spends his time experimenting with colour, light and piles of studio clutter. When painting outdoors, he braves all weathers across the notoriously drizzly South West. Starting out as an illustrator, the lure of oils finally overcame him in 2012 and he's been painting ever since. Tom exhibits regularly at the Mall Galleries in London and has been selected for numerous prestigious prizes, including the BP Portrait Prize, the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize and The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Artists & Illustrators magazine says of Tom, "he has quickly established himself as one of the UK’s most promising young painters,” and we quite agree.
