Elaine Jones
Painting professionally since 1998, Bristol-based artist Elaine Jones' work has been exhibited across the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands. Jones has attracted an impressive following for her ethereal landscapes, transporting the viewer to remote and uninhabited places. From the jungle terrain of Central America to the glaciers of the Arctic, Jones' latest series rediscovers that sense of vastness a little closer to home - drifting through the tree-lined waterways of Spain and Portugal. While her oil compositions evoke the feel of a particular location, they are not direct representations. Jones works very deliberately with the accidental, geometrically straight lines playing with splashes of colour, poured paint and loose brushwork.
