Latest works: The city of London

Bristol-based artist Andrew Hood initially worked as a graphic designer, before returning to study illustration at John Moores University. As a student, he won the Gorstella Award for Fine Art and the Liverpool Life Painting Open. He has worked as a fine artist ever since, continuing to accept commissions as an illustrator. Hood is a regular traveller, gathering reference for his paintings across Tuscany, the South of France, Croatia and Morocco. He finds beauty within our own diverse landscape, too, from the rugged Cornish coastline to the hustle and bustle of central London. Hood's work often appears in the Royal West of England Academy Show and he is an annual exhibitor at the London Art Fair and Art Holland. Selected clients include Ernst & Young, BBC Casualty, WH Smith, The Art Group, Wetherspoons, Riverside Cards and Acrobat Design.

Ernst and Young
Andrew Hood was commissioned by Ernst & Young to create a large piece of work for their new Bristol office. Richard Jones from Ernst & Young was keen for the work to reflect the different aspects of Bristol, leading Andrew to create a series of sketches showcasing the range of architecture of the city to be hung alongside the main 1.5×1.2m oil painting. Together, the different pieces form a portrait of the vibrant city of Bristol, with the main painting capturing the cosmopolitan and European feel of the city centre.
