Jo Berry’s work primarily deals with the authenticity of the image in the digital age. Editing and re-photographing photographic images usually containing an element of unreality – such as fancy dress costume packaging, 3-D bookmarks or advertising images – her resulting paintings take on new unsettling meanings and truths and a strange dreamlike quality.

Born in 1970 in Halstead, Essex, Jo studied BA Hons Fine Art (Painting) at Manchester Metropolitan University and now lives in Cardiff. Her previous exhibitions include John Moores Painting Prize, Hot-One-Hundred at the Schwartz Gallery and Welsh Artist of the Year in which she received the Highly Commended Award in 2013.
