Calo Carratalá

Calo Carratalá is a Spanish artist, born in Valencia in 1959. He studied Fine Art at the Real Academia de Bellas Artés de San Carlos and at the Spanish Royal Academy in Rome. He has won numerous Spanish awards for painting and in 2014 won the Gold Medal at the 75th Exposición Internacional Artes plásticas Valdepeñas (International Exhibition of Fine Arts).

Calo describes his work:

“I´ve been painting landscapes for 20 years, I believe that the environment is one of the main priorities we have, like society. The relationship between society and the environment has been changing during human history and the old master artist painted landscapes in different ways. I like to see and study how old master artists painted nature; I paint my landscapes following the traditional way and at the same time add something new.”
